Simon graduated from Manchester University and began working life as a Marine Seismic Engineer in hot places like Africa, the Middle East and Texas. He then joined the British Antarctic Survey as a computer engineer and did several trips to that colder place, the longest being for two and half years.
After a brief spell indulging his love of the mountains in the Andes and Nepal he came back to seismic exploration for a few years before attempting to drive across Africa. This was a dismal failure and he ended up stuck in Birmingham of all places where, through a series of unlikely coincidences, he started CherSoft.
These days, having moved the company safely back to Yorkshire, what little spare time he has is spent skiing and cycling.
